Coaches,
The 2010 Spring Season is here. To ensure you are prepared to provide our players with a well organized practice week after week, we have provided you with an 8-session, age appropriate template of sessions to follow.
Please keep in mind that these sessions are to be used as a "road map." If you have your own ideas on how you would like to work with you players on a given skill, great! Be sure we discuss those ideas in advance.
From the CSA home page, go to Coaches’ Updates and Information.
On the left menu, it has a link for Recreational Soccer Coach Resources.

Thanks Eric for these plans. This is great stuff. Do you have any drills for defensive technique? It's my experience that too many young players who show skills early end up playing striker for years with their back to the goal. Then when they get to U12 and U13, when others kids' skill levels catch up, they are at a disadvantage having not played face-up to the attack or as a part of the build up out of the back.

Thanks - these turned out great! In the U8, Week 1 drills 2 & 3 are the same. Were there supposed to be two different drills.
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Just wanted to get some discussion on U8 Sessions 1 and 2. Session 1 was very fun for the girls, but they struggled keeping the ball under control. Session 2 was not quite as fun but taught dribbling skills better. I could see the advantages of switching them so they have a little better control for the games, but having fun the first session really got them interested. Thoughts?
